iPad mini: 2 stylish cases at a price

When we first got hands-on with Apple?s iPad mini it was with some skepticism, and this came from owning every generation of iPad before it and not quite understanding why Apple wanted to go smaller. The upcoming iPad mini 2 is expected to launch with an even smaller form factor, which reaches a slightly thinner measurement but with all this thinness it could be crazy to add a case that is extremely thick.

Once we went hands-on with the iPad mini it all became clear and thanks to the 7.9-inch display being only 2-inches smaller, we decided to sell our bigger full sized iPad 3. The weight differences and thinner bezel on iPad mini created a much better experience, and the lack of Retina wasn?t noticeable enough in our opinion.

iPad mini cases that are stylish and thin ? after you purchase your new iPad mini you will want to pick a case if you take it out and about a lot. This will help you keep the external design scratch free and even help from some drops, so when looking for iPad mini cases it might be a good idea to go for something thin if you want to keep that slim exterior.

We would warn you that choosing a very thin case could have its disadvantages when compared to the likes of OtterBox iPad mini cases that will offer extreme protection. These cases deliver heavy-duty protection at the cost of extra bulk, but for those of you taking your iPad mini to work and harsh environments like construction, we wouldn?t recommend a thin case.

VersaCover-Origami-Case-iPad-Mini

Origami Case for iPad Mini ? this is the VersaCover that can be found on Moshi Store. It comes in a number of colors that include Gray, Pink, Green and Blue. You can see exactly why it?s called an Origami case in the photos above and below.

This iPad mini case is thin and provides access to all ports, buttons and cameras. The unique folding feature also doubles as an iPad mini stand for both landscape and portrait modes. The minimalist form factor will make sure you are still holding a very thin tablet with the case fitted, and benefit from complete back and front protection.

The design quality and thinness comes at a cost and this price is $50. It isn?t one of the cheapest iPad mini cases around, but it is certainly better quality than most with a cool folding ability like Origami. You can see the different folding options on the official product page.

Tavik-iPad-mini-Drone-cases

Tavik iPad mini Drone cases ? another premium iPad mini case can be seen in the image above and reveals some protection that is also very stylish, although that will depend on your love for textile materials. These Drone iPad mini cases were stitched with an aim of creating something ?cutting edge?, and aims to deliver both functionality and multiple viewing modes.

You will find a premium micro suede lining, a magnet for the auto sleep feature as first seen with the smart covers Apple launched with iPad 2. The case also offers a secure tab to make sure the cover is fully closed with a buckle. The Tavik Drone case caters for both typing and viewing positions. Pricing is slightly better at $39.95 and this is pretty reasonable considering the expected quality from Tavik.

Take a look at the product page on shop.tavik.com, or if you really want to splash out and want something more than a case like an iPad mini Folio, then we suggest you check out the $129 Levenger Work & Play iPad mini Folio. This isn?t really a case and will more suit business and managers, although some of our readers will find it hard to justify the high price. Take a look at Levenger.com for more on the features.

What price is too much for an iPad mini case, and do you prefer something thin for such a small tablet? You might want to read about the iPad mini 2 Retina release fears in an earlier article.
