Four Xperia handsets to remain on Android 4.0
Sony has listed which handsets from its Xperia smartphone range will be updated to Jelly Bean. The rollout of Android 4.1 will take place in the first quarter of 2013, depending on individual carrier delays, though the update schedule also includes details of which handsets will not receive Jelly Bean, instead staying on and not progressing past Android 4.0.
The Xperia T, Xperia TX, and the Xperia V will start to receive Jelly Bean during February and March, while the Xperia P, Xperia J, and Xperia go will see the update from the end of March. In subsequent weeks, the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion, and Xperia acro S will get upgraded, including some Xperia-specific Jelly Bean features and functionality.
The company confirmed that the Xperia U, Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, and Xperia sola will top out at Android 4.0. Reasons for the lack of updates for these last handsets were not disclosed by Sony, but usually it is due to hardware constraints.
