Have patience is the best advice, they can take a while to get a response from the banks, simply because there are so many short sales in their pipelines and it seems that the decision making process involves a lot of people. If you are doing a short sale from a local bank, the process, in my experience has been shorter, than that of a larger national bank. Using a Realtor is a definite positive in this case, you want to make sure you have someone protecting your interests.
Best of luck to you,
Liz
